When you integrate your Assembla repos with the Trello project management system, it becomes even easier for your project managers and administrators to track project completion by allowing developers to post merge request & commit details directly into Trello cards. Our Trello powerup allows merge requests & commits to be attached to Trello cards with links back to the Assembla webapp as well as other information about the merge request.

Note: This is a paid add-on. The Trello integration can be enabled through the payer's account page or by contacting support@assembla.com.

To enable the Assembla power-up for Trello, first select Power-Ups from the board menu on the Trello website. Then, Select Enable to the right of the Assembla power-up.

Then, click on the cog wheel to open the settings menu and select Authorize Assembla to connect your Assembla account to the Trello power-up.

Once your Assembla account is authorized, open your Trello card and then click on the Assembla power-up on the right side of the screen.

You’ll then be asked whether you’d like to attach a merge request or a commit to your card.

Attaching Merge Requests

You’ll then need to select the Space you want to draw information from. The power-up will display all of the Spaces that you are a member of to choose from.

Finally, you’ll be asked to choose which merge request from that Space you would like to attach to the Trello card. The Merge Requests shown in the menu are searchable, and another Space can be selected by clicking on Choose a different project… at the bottom of the list.

Once the merge request has been added, the power-up will display the title of the merge request (MR) and its status as open, merged, or ignored. Additionally, the power-up will display the Space the MR is located in, the date and time it was created, the author, the number of upvotes and downvotes on the MR, and the description of the MR.

It’s important to note that more than one merge request can be added to a card. In that case, the screen will be scrollable through all of the attached merge requests.

At a glance, it is possible to see how many merge requests have been attached to a card through the Assembla logo shown on the card when viewing the board. The number to the right of the Assembla logo shows how many merge requests and commits have been attached to that card.

Once the commit has been added, the power-up will display the title of the commit as well as the Space the commit is located in, the date and time it was committed, and the committer.
