Assembla’s system is flexible enough to meet the needs of almost any team or project. In order to get the most out of your Assembla projects, review the following tips and tricks to help you and your team work smarter and faster.

Using Assembla’s markup language to quickly reference tickets, commits, files, embed images inline, and more

You can reference another ticket by typing #ticket_number, such as #112. Include a link to a file with [[file:file_name]] such as [[file:screenshot.png]]. You also can directly embed an image inline with [[image:file_name]] such as [[image:screenshot.png]].

Use the markup language shortcuts by directly typing the syntax into any text area OR by using the toolbar above the text areas.

Identifying “stuck” tickets with no status changes for a defined amount of time

Sometimes "stuck" tickets are either not important, meaning they could move to another milestone, are forgotten, or need some assistance.

Go to the Tickets tool, and select Metrics > Stuck Tickets section. Define the amount of time, and Assembla provides you with a report of stuck tickets.

Getting an at-a-glance view of the status of stories in progress

Go to the Tickets tool, and select Metrics > Stories Lifecycle section. Here you can view a list of all stories, the number of active tickets, a progress report, and the story owner. Click on any story to open it and view more details.
