Granular user and tool permissions allow administrators and managers to set repository access permissions for individual users as well as user groups that can be created to quickly change access permissions for a set of individuals in a space.

Creating user groups for your portfolio

Create a user group for users that you want to use often. For example, create one group for developers who often work on projects together or create a group for clients who only need view access for the repos associated with their projects.

To change permission settings for multiple users at once

  1. Go to All Users > Users Groups, and then click Create Group.

  2. Type the group name in the Save as textbox, and select the users (and groups) that you want included new group.

  3. Click Save when done.

Setting user permissions for tools in your space

To view individual user permissions

  1. From the space you want to manage, go to Space Team > Advanced Tools Permissions.

All of the applicable user groups in a Portfolio appear on this page, with the users from that space shown in their respective groups. All users without a group appear at the bottom of the list under Unassigned Users.

  2. Set permissions for individual users, as well as user groups created at the portfolio level. User permissions include default, none, edit, and all. Default gives the permissions associated with the user's assigned role (Owner, Member, Watcher). None gives no permissions at all. To a user with None permissions, the associated tool is not even be visible in their menu. View gives read-only permissions. Edit gives the user write and read permissions. And finally, All gives write and read permissions as well as permissions to change settings and even delete the tool entirely.

Permissions are set immediately and there is no need to save your changes.
Note: You can change permissions only for members. Owners retain their ALL permissions.

Filter tools and users using the Quick users search and Quick tools search search bars.
